6366 No.372

Hello I am a massive fan of comic books and have just discovered this site ,and i was wondering if yall could suggest some good steampunk comics and cartoons. The only ones I read are League of Extraordinary Gentlemen , Freakangels ,and some transformer comic set in a turn of the century environment. Anything you cn suggest would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

>> No.373

Mm, there's a youtube link just down below that would be of interest to you.

As for comic books, I found some bits of Flight to be wonderfully steampunky. Also, the collection "Sixteen Miles to Merrics" features some wonderfull, if not obvious steampunk, then at least interesting art, though leaning heavily towards the dystopian.

There's probably more steampunk manga than I can shake my (gnarly) stick at, but as for american comics, I believe there may be a few steampunk-centric anthologies. Amazon searches for "Steampunk" are your friend here.

>> No.374

OP here and manga and anime are all right some times so please reccomend if you know of any good ones ot those as well.

>> No.375
  • Laputa: Castle in the Sky
  • Steamboy (but only for the pretty visuals)
  • Samurai 7 (With optional Shizo tech)
  • Last Exile
  • Porco Rosso (While not exactly steampunk, it has that late-20's period feel about it, when airspeed records are still being broken, and the car isn't quite ubiquitous to the streets.)
  • Nadia The secret of Blue Water
  • Fullmetal Alchemist ( with fantasy elements. Both Manga and anime)

Also

  • Girl Genius
  • Hollow Fields
>> No.376

OP here again I can't believe I forgot about Porco Rosso, I fucking love that movie. I reccomend everyone look up A gentlemen's Duel on Youtube. Please keep suggesting anything you know.

>> No.386

jla: age of wonder
five fists of science

>> No.390

Don't forget about Girl Genius, by Studio Foglio. The entire story thus far is posted on the website, and it's filled with steam-powered machines and mad scientists, with a good plotline. Loads of eye candy too.

>> No.394

Aaaagh I know it's not comics or cartoons exactly...
But I would actually recommend Final Fantasy VI and IX if you play video games at all.

They are older, so it might be tricky to come by them, but both are very steampunkish indeed.

>> No.395

Sakura Wars.

How could I forget Sakura Wars.

>> No.396

Books/Comics:
Steam Detectives
Steampunk
Batman - The Doom That Came To Gotham
Daisy Kutter
The Aggressive Adventures Of Fearless Griggs (nearly impossible to find)
Freakangels has some steam elements too, however small they may be

Movies/Shows:
The City Of Lost Children
Last Exile ( I did not enjoy this one that much, but it is very very steampunk)

Games:
Final Fantasy XII
Samurai Legend Musashi
Armed and Dangerous
Riven
Myst
Final Fantasy VI
Some parts of LOZ: Twilight Princess

>> No.399

Speaking of, weren't there at least comics based on Jules Verne's Works?

>> No.403

Thanks for the suggestions on video games , I didn't think about asking about those . A recomendation I have for yall is to check out the adventures of Brisco Conty Jr.

>> No.404

Hey yall ,I just found out about a new bame called Damnation that is a weird west tittle . Thought yall might be interested. It's gonna be on the 360.

>> No.409

Also, both for the PS2.

Skygunner and Steambot Chronicles.

>> No.410

Steambot is great . One of the best games ever. My only other game recomendations would be Bioshock and Medevil 2.Irealy wish they would make a Medevil 3.

>> No.622

Deadlands: The Weird West was a roleplaying game with some great Steampunk themes to it. You can play as Mad Scientists and create things like Gatling Pistols and such.

>> No.623

Post Script: Other great roleplaying games with steampunk themes...
-Changeling: The Dreaming (you play as Faeries, the kith "Nockers" create victorian inspired wonders and make them work by screaming obscenities at them).
-Mage: The Ascension (you play as enlightened mortals who can affect the world through the power of their will. The "Sons of Ether" are wonderfully based on steampunk and victorian themes with some of the old pulp sci-fi thrown in as well).

>> No.625

Holy crap, I completely forgot about old WOD, I used to play the shit out of that when I was in highschool.

>> No.846
>404

I've heard it's painfully dissapointing...

>> No.847

Syberia's a bit more dieselpunk, but it's certainly very good.
You could play The Golden Compass, i guess, but only if you really hated yourself...
