Most Miyazaki Aime's are a good watch. Howl's moving castle, Nausica and the Valley of the wind, and Castle in the sky are all good steampunk(ish) movies.

Yeah, Anime is a good place to look for steampunk themed series. Ergo proxy, gun x sword, and Steamboy are also good.

I can't agree with you. Ergo Proxy is more cyberpunk than anything and Steamboy is pretty mediocre (the designs are cool and the art is amazing, but that's it). I'd recommend Last Exile, though.

What? Last Exile is about as steampunk as it gets. Sure, the Guild is more like an ancient fantasy civilization, but that's a pretty common theme.

Also, anymore non-amine movies/tv. I've already seen firefly, serenity, and mutant chronicles. I'm also going to suggest the series Fringe. It's not really steampunk. But if you like mad scientists, weird contraptions, and unreal science, you might like it.

I find that statement to be a bit murky. first of all Victorian style and western style are incredibly close. as a matter of fact I would go so far to say victorian style is to Europe what western style is to America. On top of that Steam punk falls under the blanket description of science fiction. My point being; taking away cogwheels and adding spaceflight doesn't exclude firefly or Serenity from being considered stempunkish.

And isn't that part of the essence of steampunk, a DIY mentality in the face of ever advancing technological change. Besides Most of the storyline takes place in the outer worlds. Anyway, when all is said and done it's a good series and a damn good movie.

Memories: Cannon Fodder is an amazing short steampunk anime movie. Go watch it, if only for the visuals.

Walter Dillerchin you must have the some "perfect" idea of steampunk in your head... and very few suggestions would ever measure up to your ideals.... and i'm fine with that. But to resort to childish name calling with regards to nothing more than ones opinion is a bit underclass.
