Instead of having a desktop, I'd have a room filled with equipment, and a bunch of realistic female androids to run it. They'd also cook, clean, and handle my schedule throughout the day. I'd have a library (gotta love that physical data storage). Other than that, it'd be pretty much normal.

I'm making cyberpunk insturments. So far I have two mirophones created from telephones (one distorts the other is normal low-fi). I also have an Autoharp that I've modified to be electric. Currently I am making an amplifier and a keyboard out of old children's keyboards and a grill.

Is this awesome? Y/N

From Wikipedia:
Idoru is the second book in William Gibson's Bridge trilogy. Idoru is a science-fiction novel set in a postmodern, dystopian, cyberpunk future. The main character, Colin Laney has a talent for identifying nodal points, analogous to Gibson's own:

Laney’s node-spotter function [from Idoru] is some sort of metaphor for whatever it is that I actually do. There are bits of the literal future right here, right now, if you know how to look for them. Although I can’t tell you how; it’s a non-rational process.

As of 2006, an anime adaptation of Idoru is rumored to be in the early stages of development

>> No.48
File: 1212209951778.jpg -(17249 B, 420x307) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size.
17249

I don't see Laney as the main character though. He's a supporting sub-plot to the more interesting story of the fanclub that meet online like in some kind of WoW environment. The band they worship has shades of the Beatles and now that I think on it, remind me of the Gorillaz. Then there's Idoru, who has more in common with the Gorillaz concept. She's a complete construct (All j-pop are over produced images anyway) made of CG and Label hype. I think Minmay from Robotech, or Lily Chou-Chou. The book did a good job of predicting trends, like Laney's Matrix reading like talent, and the teen peer groups that meet online in all sorts of glamouized semi-anonymous way. Zona Rosa was a cool bit.
I would want only Sotashi Kon to make this anime, otherwise it would be a bad idea

>> No.106

I believe the band is supposed to be a U2 'level' band. a band old enough that the singer is much older than the girls that worship his 'forever young face' and that's why her mom dislikes her fan obsession. Also the band is supposed to have been popular enough that the 'new media' can't really tear down their established celebrity.

I would be game for a shadow run. If you want players throw up an invitation. Whats a good freeware IRC?

>> No.76

I made a channel in the 7chan IRC server.

#steamchan irc.7chan.org

I use linux while I'm in IRC, so for a client I use BitchX. if you are on Windows the typical client is mIRC. I don't recommend it though. Pidgin is an IM client that supports almost every network and has IRC functionality that does a good job. If you are on Mac, I believe iChat can do IRC also. Firefox has an IRC plugin called ChatZilla. A google search should yield useful results.

Message me in the channel with some contact info like email or AIM screenname and I'll start building a list of interested parties. Once we have a few people we can discus character creation, play times, etc.

Let's try this again. I know there is interest but everyone that joined the channel last time never left me a way to contact them. I can't be physically at my computer at all times, so you have to leave a message.

If you are interested in playing Shadowrun on IRC then join the channel #steamchan on irc.freenode.net. Then message JamesFaffingham with some kind of contact information.
