Book thread. Post some fucking cyberpunk books. Pic related, shit was so cash. Raven was badass as hell.

Inb4 neuromancer, which I still have to read.

Fix'd

Also, by now you should have read Neuromancer. I suggest you continue with Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overrive.

same concept sort of, but multiplied a million times and awesome.

The difference engine is more of a steampunk novel and if you can handle the slow pace its good. The other book I'd deffinetly reccomend is Neal Stephenson's "The Diamond Age" Most excelent sorta has a similar feel as snow crash (my all time favorite book) so you should like it. It's about nano tech in the future according to neal stephenson.

Definitely give Neuromancer a read. It is a bit dated, but the idea of "console cowboys" poppin' in cassette tapes and flying around cyberspace has a quaint charm to it :3

As for a book recommendation, I vote for Altered Carbon. It's a great page-turner and has an awesome story. It also does a good job of showing the implications of a neurological device that allows a persons mind to be stored, essentially putting an end to "death"

Snowcrash is by far the greatest work of hardfiction fantasy I have ever read. I love the concepts for the internet and the cookie cutter guns.

If you can find it, give the BBC radio production of Neuromancer a whirl. It's quite good.

Retro-futuristic Cyberpunk?

I'd like a room like Lain's I think.
Or a secret room in my room filled with computers and stuff (and maybe some place for a workshop too).

>> No.140

To cyberpunk my room...

I would take at least four Monocolor (preferrably green) screen monitors (thinking apple IIe), mount them on the wall above my bed, displaying various chunks of scrolling code, or BBS information.

My bed would be replaced with a single tattered mattress, suspended on blocks of styrofoam.

Light fixture replaced by a single, yellowed, humming lightbulb within a skeletal metal fixture.

A poster of Wintermute's Avatar.

Wires of various girth and length snaked around everything

i would set my PC home page to

I'd go back to the old days of computing, or at least what I imagine them being. Clunky monitors/hard drives/wires everywhere. Preferably most of it would use TUIs, since I hate GUIs. Green would be a good color too. One thing I'd have a lot of is force fields. Force field doors. Force field platforms. Force field force fields. You get the point. Also, a lot of incredibly advanced AI to keep me company.

you may have seen this already, but what you may not know is the reason ryce is looking for someone to take over the site is because he's going to stop running the site at the end of February. so in a month from now there may not be a megachan.
